A trusted companion might offer support, but their presence can also affect privacy and how freely you speak. What should you ask the provider about guests, fees, and recording? How can you agree on your companion's role and boundaries beforehand, and decide whether attending alone or postponing would feel better?

Ask the provider whether a guest is allowed, whether the price changes, and who may hear or keep a recording. Before the session, tell your companion whether you want them to speak, take notes, or simply sit with you. You can also agree on a signal for a break. If sharing personal details in front of them feels difficult, a private session or a later date may suit you better.
